"Great to hear from you and I am delighted to provide a
reference for your works, extending our house as I realise
that it is an important decision for anyone in selecting
which contractor to trust to carry out works on your home
and therefore a client reference is a good means of
providing some comfort. Firstly, if I set the scene; the
works consisted of a single storey rear extension across the
entire width of the house approx (12m), which required
demolition of existing rooms and part garage and a two
storey, double width side extension from front to back,
including over part of new rear extension, all internal
works up to decorations. A new corridor had to be created
upstairs to access the three new bedrooms and the downstairs
was completely remodelled. The total value of works was in
the region of £120K and took approximately 4½ months from
start to finish, which was as your programme and within your
stated estimate. Our family remained insitu throughout the
entire works.
As you know, I work for a national contractor but
recognise that this type of work requires a specialist
contractor, working in and around the household. The quality
of workmanship is exceptional and your personal attention to
detail and enthusiasm for client satisfaction is a main
factor in the quality of the finished product. You provided
good, practical advice at every stage and as you know, this
resulted in several changes to the internal layout that has
made the house work much better. You also provided good
advice on alternative materials and methodology that created
savings which we have managed to since spend on finishes.
All of this was a pleasant surprise and one which I hadn't
considered when selecting our contractor. I know that there
are contractors in the market that would have taken
advantage of these changes, by looking for additional costs
but this was not the case, with the exception of genuine
additional items that we asked you to carry out whilst you
were on site, which were all very competitively priced.
I know your reputation is
incredibly important to you and this shows through every
stage of your works. The disruption to the household was
kept to an absolute minimum and at no stage was the security
of our home compromised, with you ensuring that the build
sequence did not leave the building insecure at any stage.
The constant dialogue kept us well informed throughout the
build process and there were no nasty surprises. As far as
the physical works are concerned, we were delighted with the
tidiness throughout and the attitude of your staff who were
considerate and courteous throughout and certainly not how I
perceived a typical builder to be.
In summary, I would have no
hesitation in recommending you to carry out similar works.."

with SP Building Services. Steve Peters initially helped us
with advice on our project and in finding an architect to
draw up our plans. Our ideas required a little more thought
than a simple conversion and Steve Peters was able to advise
